OneDrive Workspaces
A OneDrive workspace stores Orbit notes in a folder in a user’s OneDrive.
Use OneDrive for
Section titled “Use OneDrive for”Use OneDrive workspaces for:
- Personal notes.
- Private drafts.
- Early exploration before a team workspace exists.
- Small collaborations where the owner is clear.
When not to use OneDrive
Section titled “When not to use OneDrive”Avoid OneDrive workspaces for long-lived team knowledge.
Reasons:
- The workspace is tied to a person’s OneDrive ownership.
- Team lifecycle is harder to manage.
- Access recovery may depend on the OneDrive owner or admin process.
- SharePoint usually has clearer governance for shared knowledge.
Sharing from OneDrive
Section titled “Sharing from OneDrive”Orbit still uses Microsoft 365 permissions. If a teammate cannot open a note, check both the Orbit share and the OneDrive file/folder access.
Moving from OneDrive to SharePoint
Section titled “Moving from OneDrive to SharePoint”If a personal workspace becomes team knowledge, create a SharePoint workspace and move or import the long-term notes there. Keep the OneDrive workspace for drafts only.
