Supported Files Reference
Orbit works with notes and supporting files in Microsoft 365-backed workspaces.
Editable notes
Section titled “Editable notes”Orbit notes are edited in Orbit and saved as files in the connected Microsoft 365 workspace.
Common note extensions:
.md.markdown.mdown.mkd
Local files that can convert into notes
Section titled “Local files that can convert into notes”.docx.pdf.md.markdown.mdown.mkd.txt
Local conversion limit: 10 MB.
Cloud files that can convert into notes
Section titled “Cloud files that can convert into notes”From OneDrive or SharePoint import:
.docx.pdf
Upload as-is
Section titled “Upload as-is”Files that should not become notes can be uploaded as-is where the workspace allows it.
Examples:
- Images.
- PDFs.
- HTML files.
- Reference documents.
Preview behavior
Section titled “Preview behavior”Orbit can preview some file types, such as images and selected Microsoft file types, depending on the file and permissions.
If a preview fails, download or open the file in Microsoft 365.
Export formats
Section titled “Export formats”Orbit can export editable notes in several formats when the action is available:

Export quality depends on note content. Review diagrams, tables, images, and links before sending an exported file outside Orbit.
